Mike, Steve, Matt, Austin and Shelby ran hard and represented themselves well at the Halloween Classic 15. Mike and Steve raced the two bonus races Thursday & Friday. Both of them went two rounds on Thursday before going out. Mike with a red light, Steve with mechanical problems. The distributor clamp on Steves engine came loose in the burnout and as he said, ”changed the timing a little!” Friday was a much better day for both, Mike going three rounds and Steve going four. Mike said “Steve took to his new car like a duck to water”. Steve is excited because the car ran and worked much better than expected. Mike clicked off a string of 7.95 passes while Steve in the altered ran a string of 8.80 passes. Matt didn’t make it to the track until Friday, but made up for it in short order by qualifying for the Top Gun show with one shot. Unfortunately he red lit in the opening stanza of Top Gun competition. With only four passes on his new 565cid engine he reeled off a 7.363 pass. Matt says there’s more left in it, just a little more tuning time needed. Austin left the line a little early and red lit while Shelby went a few rounds before bowing out. On the Saturday-Sunday classic race Mike and Matt went out in the opening round. Steve stuck in there till losing to Rod Langley in round three ( .0017 MOV for Rod) All in all the entire team had a good showing. Ryan was helping his cousin Blake with his Junior dragster car and also helping Mike run to run. Blake has some cool safety and play stuff for sale on his web site. Click the link to DragCar.com and check it out! According to the brothers Schoenfeld the only way the race could’ve been better would have been to race each other in the final round every day of the event. Also a special shout out to the New family for putting on such a spectacular event.
Because of some heads up racers providing Larry & Mike with a couple of leads, the Police are making some head way in catching the POS(s) that did this. Even if they do nail them some questions remain about the items that were stolen, as in their location and if they can get them back. Anyway THANKS!!!
Most of you that visit Schoenfeld Racing.com know that Steve wrote the National Dragster articles for Rocky Mountain Raceways that were printed this season. Steve says they were edited somewhat, some better some not. I will be posting what was sent to NHRA by Steve on the News page. Just click the News button and compare. I’ll post them once a week as I get them from Steve. ENJOY!
